I bet you wish you had some Gee-Whiz facts about foxes up your sleeve. Here’s your foxy BTW:
Magnetic Hunters: Foxes have an incredible sense of direction and can even use Earth’s magnetic field to hunt! They often pounce in a unique north-eastern direction to catch prey hiding beneath the snow, improving their success rate when they leap in this direction compared to others.
Nighttime Ninjas: While foxes are often depicted as nocturnal, they’re actually crepuscular, meaning they’re most active during dawn and dusk. This makes them super stealthy hunters since they can blend into the dim light, easily surprising their prey.
Communication Superpowers: Foxes are vocal animals with over 40 distinct sounds, and they use different calls for everything from mating to warning others about danger. The famous “gekkering” sound—a cross between a bark and a scream—is often heard during disputes or when they’re showing aggression. It’s surprisingly loud and can carry over long distances!
